Ty Jones, CAA to receive NIAAA State Award of Merit

Indianapolis, IN (March 30, 2009)  Ty Jones, CAA, assistant principal and director of athletics for Jerome School District #261 in Jerome, Idaho will be presented the 2009 State Award of Merit by the Idaho Athletic Administrators Association on March 30, 2009. The presentation will be made at the state conference for athletic administrators in Boise at the Holiday Inn Convention Center.

A 1988 graduate of Boise State University with a Bachelors Degree, Jones began his career in education in 1989 at OLeary Junior High School. After several stops along the way, Ty became the assistant principal and director of athletics at Gooding High School in 1993. In 2001 he moved to his present position of assistant principal and director of athletics at Jerome High School. During his career, Ty has coached numerous sports including basketball, cross country, football, golf and track.

He has served both the IAAA and the Idaho High School Activities Association. He is the current boys coaches representative to the IHSAA and serves as a Weight/Hydration Assessor for the IHSAA. He currently serves the IAAA as secretary and has twice been named the District 4 IAAA athletic administrator of the year in 2005 and 2006.

Ty received his NIAAA Certified Athletic Administrator designation in 2004.
